Summary

Want to see if your team’s new public health initiative is truly making a difference in the community? This workshop will give you a condensed introduction to the analytical methods used to evaluate the impacts of health interventions. This statistical toolset is useful to anyone working in the field of healthcare, such as public health practitioners, researchers and healthcare professionals.

This year’s online format saw 47 participants from around the world including countries in South East Asia, Bhutan, Egypt and Ghana. The workshop was conducted as a combination of lecture sessions introducing the statistics behind the methods, and coding demonstrations based on published case studies.

The first day started out light, with Asst Prof Ying Yao (Hitotsubashi Institute for Advanced Study, Hitotsubashi University) teaching the basic Difference-In-Difference method.

The next two days were more intense, with Asst Prof Cynthia Chen (Saw Swee Hock School of Public Health, National University of Singapore) and Mr Gregory Ang (Saw Swee Hock School of Public Health, National University of Singapore) diving deep into the topics of Propensity Score Matching and Regression Discontinuity.
