A big “Thank You!” to Assistant Professor David Kim from the University of Chicago, who steered a public talk (Simulation Modeling to Inform Value-Based Health Care Decisions) and workshop (Incorporating Economic Evaluation in your Research Grant Proposal) with HIPER last week.
Dr Kim shared his expertise on the development and validation of a novel Diabetes, Obesity, and Cardiovascular Disease Microsimulation (DOC-M) model, used to project future cardiometabolic disease and economic burdens. The talk garnered more than 100 participants both on and off-site, mainly being local government agencies and healthcare institutions. By the end of the session, participants were able to initiate valued and more informed healthcare decisions.
Dr Kim’s more intimate workshop was oversubscribed and hosted a total of 15 attendees instead of the intended 10 attendees. There, he covered in-depth topics of economic evaluations of healthcare innovations, and provided insight on design, conduct, and analysis of economic evaluations. Tailored advice was also provided to the participants by incorporating the appropriate types of economic evaluation into their grant proposal
