Qualitative Research Apprentice

 Start date: March 2022 (6 months)

Job Description

This position reports to the Director of Health Intervention and Policy Evaluation Research (HIPER) and interfaces with the HIPER Social Behavioural Research Team. HIPER is a research unit under the Saw Swee Hock School of Public Health which aims to build Health Technology Assessment (HTA) capacity in developing countries through a range of activities, including consulting services and advisory work, development of software tools to support HTA research, education, and networking at domestic and international levels. We believe that better evidence can be generated only through better research capacity. Eventually, such evidence will empower decision-making, resulting in sustainable health systems.

  • Training duration is for 6 months and cannot be extended
  • Applicants must be a Singapore Citizen or SPR
  • The trainee must commence training by 31 March 2022
 
This position is supported by the SG United Traineeship Programme.

Competencies trainee will learn during SGUnited Traineeship Programme:
  1. Strategies for effective participant recruitment
  2. Techniques for qualitative data collection, data preparation, and analysis
  3. Communication and professional engagement skills
  4. Develop insights in the formulation and evaluation of public health policies

Responsibilities

  • Conduct interviews with participants of public health studies
  • Assist in the transcription and analysis of interviews
  • Other tasks related to research project management

Qualifications

  • Degree in any discipline
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office; prior experience with qualitative data analysis software (e.g. NVivo) is an advantage
  • Strong oral and written communication skills to interact with participants
