Health Technology Assessment: Selecting the Highest Value Care

The introduction to HTA workshop first held in Singapore in 2019 would be doing its run in Philippines for 2020. The Health Technology Assessment: Selecting the Highest Value Care aims to provide an overview on the conduct and use of health technology assessment (HTA) to support decision-making on technology and health policy at the national level. While some technical details of HTA will be introduced, this is not an advanced course and is not intended to enhance technical skills in conducting economic evaluation models. It is useful for policy makers, healthcare professionals, researchers or lecturers, and professionals in the pharmaceutical or consultancy industries who are looking to:

  1. Appreciate the political and economical aspects of health priority setting;
  2. Describe what a ‘good’ HTA process looks like and its importance for policy development;
  3. Understand how HTA, especially model-based health economic evaluation, is conducted;
  4. Conduct and report health economic evaluations in accordance with best practices applicable to the region;
  5.  Describe how other important factors in policy decision-making can be incorporated into the HTA process.
  6. Describe how other important factors in policy decision-making can be incorporated into the HTA process.
